1. I am waiting in line (online) right now to get Yayoi Kasuma tickets to The Broad (LA) I am overcaffinated and pumped.
2. My mom got diagnosed with afib. Her side of the family has a history of not great hearts. She doesn't know much yet.
3. I can't even deal with Las Vegas. I feel like some of the mass shootings are totally western and a product of western culture. Most of the ones in Colorado and this one just seem to have the western 'guns guns guns are the answer' spirit.
4.Olive is getting along pretty well on 3 legs and she has finished her chemo. But she probably still has cancer. She's been throwing up a bit lately which is worrisome, but it could also be allergies.
5. Drip irrigation has changed my life.
6. My friend left her job to start a landscape architecture company, so with my mother possibly setting up a tiny house in my backyard and that, we are getting ready to tame the hellscape.

I did not get a chance to buy Kasuma tix.

Boo.

And that is all the time we have.

xoxo!

Hey does anyone have Lynda del Genis' address?

Thank You!

I know I owe you an update!

OK, quickly, Olive is great and we got a whole bunch of money for vet bills from Petco, which is just awesome. I'm actually probably at the best point I have been since Nov 4th. I am feeling pretty good atabout most things right now.

But my sewing machine doesn't work and I know it's my fault!! Got to figure it out soon.

I was going to do a regular list post like I always do, but since Jerry Falwell, a man who never hesitated to spread hate whenever possible, has gone to burn eternally, I am celebrating a day of hate.

I hate:

That I haven't slept all the way through the night since I moved into my new apartment. I thought sleeping was my super power, but now it seems that living in a dark basement was my superpower.

Anyone that calls themselves a Christian but obviously hates their neighbor.

Cramps.

The really tired feeling i get after lunch sometimes.

The Dave Matthews Band.

Robin Williams and Garfield. Just not funny.

Mayonnaise, it may be my largest foe.

That I spend more time with my co-workers than my friends.

The beehive in the wall of my apartment.

Working with Some People.

Dick Cheney and his liver lips.

The feminists, gays, lesbians and liberal groups who brought on the terrorist attacks of September 11th!

That I don't really believe that anyone burns in hell, no matter how much they deserve it.

Corns (like on your feet)

In good news, a Shop Vac is the most amazing filth fighter ever constructed. Hats Off!

Dear Fucktard,

If you are across the street from the migrant rally insisting that they speak english because they are in 'merica now, your grammar must be flawless.

All this talk about the new Pope and Hitler's Youth has got me agitated. Super agitated, for a few reason. I have been stewing on it all day so hopefully, I can get my point across. I wish I were a better writer.

First, I think it is so dangerous for us to act as if the average German under Hitler was a bad person or less caring or thoughtful than we are. It's like saying that the Holocaust was an isolated moment in history and it only happened because Germans are bad. That it would never happen here. Not me, I wouldn't do it. I would stop it. It couldn't happen here, we are better.

Second, what would you do? Do you really think that you would've bucked against the Third Reich? I would absolutely love to think that I would, that I would be part of the resistance and that I would fight fight fight and that I would make a difference. But would I? Would I really? When was the last time I thought about the thousands of American Muslims that have been locked in our jails without basic civil rights since 2001? What have I done for these people? Nothing.

It's just that if we think that it can't happen here then that may provide another crack that will allow it. Constant vigilance and true empathy are so important. Especially now. The only thing that we have over the non-Nazi German is that we have a knowledge of what can happen if we are not careful.

I hope that this rant hasn't lead anyone to think I am at all sympathetic to the Nazi. I am not. At all. I hate them with the heat of a thousand suns. And yes, if the Nazis rose to power again they would seriously get their asses kicked, but I am so worried that this time they are wearing different uniforms and we will all be too complacent to see them.

Man, this is making me shake. I don't know why the whole thing upsets me so much, but it always, always has, probably because Mother Night made a giant impact on my young idealist self.

Hello!

Secret Snowflake Update. Strangely, very little has changed from last year.

I Love:
Western anything, cowboy or cowgirl anything,
creepy little paintings (I want a Tennenbaum-like wall someday)
kid's books, YA and picture. Especially old ones with dust jackets

music, music, music (I am willing to give anything a try, but I personally need more garage rock, more indie rock, more sugary pop, more motown, more alt-country, more old-time country, more of YOUR local bands, more singer /songwriter. Currently on my band wishlist is: Old Jackson Brown, Judee sills, The Scientists, Old canes, the Kooks, Tilly and the Wall, The Lilys, Human Television, more Springsteen.) My two favorite genres are Old country and sweet, sweet twee. I am a pretty big music fan, but I have a lot of holes in my knowledge because Sacramento has always had such a great scene that I mostly go see local bands. I actually know very little about any music between 1992-2003.

Yarn & knitting stuff (patterns, etc.)
handmade whatever
smells: citrus, sandlewood, neroli, lavender, rosemary, herby scents, bergamont
taking baths
Orange, pink, sky blue,
cheese (not that you have to do anything about that)
zines
handmade things incorporating candy.
new crafting ideas,
old movies
anything to do with Western history (esp. Nevada & Montana)
camping
cool bottle caps (especially from your local brewery)
riding my bike (could use a few more reflectors....)
good books
things made out of other things.
I love bright things to put on my feet. (Meaning socks, or tights or legwarmers.)
My dog love toys!
I love love tea, especially Earl Grey.

Other things:
My ears are constantly cold in the winter & I lose about 3 pairs of ear muff slash headbands slash hats every year.

I am going through a "green" stage, so I am really into things that have been recycled and things that have a minimum impact on the planet.

I am a thrift store junkie.

Dislikes:
Tori Amos (sorry, but it's true)
Chocolate
Things that smell like food, but aren't. (exceptions: citrus, coconut)
Blanket statements
racism, sexism
The current administration
cold feet.
